Why choose Sculptor?

We provide a stimulating learning environment that is both academically challenging and family-friendly. Through full implementation of the internationally acclaimed Core Knowledge® curriculum and a further emphasis on the arts and sciences, Sculptor students graduate culturally literate and prepared for later academic success. All students receive art, music, drama, technology, PE, and Spanish, and the arts are fully integrated into our curriculum. High School credit is available for Middle School students who wish to take Spanish I and/or Spanish II, Algebra I Honors and Geometry Honors.

Wouldn’t you like to send your child to an high performing school where students are well-prepared for the The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), but not at the expense of the rest of their studies; where the arts are not just an afterthought; where character education is a pervading philosophy, not just an occasional class; and where parents, staff and students work in partnership to develop culturally literate citizens who are successful in the real world?

What curriculum do you use?

Here at Sculptor, we use the internationally acclaimed Core Knowledge® curriculum, and Sculptor is one of only five Official Core Knowledge schools in all of Florida . Our staff is fully trained in its implementation and we use it at every grade level, including Pre-K.

The Core Knowledge program was designed to incorporate new information and advances in education to continuously build on past knowledge and experiences. In every grade, students are exposed to a broad range of historical, scientific and cultural topics that will build on one another. This wide array of subject matter not only develops cultural literacy but also builds the strong vocabulary necessary for true reading comprehension.

What's in a name?

Have you ever wondered why we are called Sculptor? We value the fine arts, and we think it’s important that all of our students have music, art, drama, PE, and technology as part of a well-rounded education. We develop culturally literate students who not only understand the concepts and skills within each subject area but how that knowledge relates to other studies. An example would be the link between Beethoven and Napoleon, studied both in music class and middle school social studies.

As you can imagine, we have lots of plays, concerts and art exhibits, whether by grade level or school-wide, in-house or for the public. Additional performance-based opportunities are also available through Drama Club, Chorus or art contests.

How do you approach Character education/discipline?

At Sculptor, we teach character education all day, every day, in every classroom. It is not so much instructing our students about good character as modeling it—we live it. It is not so much a curriculum as a philosophy.

Staff have been trained in the Love and Logic methodology and all classrooms implement Wise Skills on a weekly basis.

We have high, but reasonable, expectations of our students. Research has repeatedly shown that children will do their best to live up to the expectations that are set for them. At Sculptor, you will see bright, attentive, polite, respectful students who seem genuinely glad to be here.

How are parents involved in the educational partnership?

Parental involvement is key to Sculptor’s success. Just as a school is more than just a building, a successful academic partnership is more than just the student and teacher. Our parents, staff and students working together form a powerful partnership that helps students reach their true potential. At Sculptor, we are also proud of the level of volunteerism. This criterion alone sets us apart from many other Brevard County schools.

Do you wear uniforms?

Yes, we wear uniforms at Sculptor. As our Uniform Policy says, this helps our students “focus on a quality, well-rounded education where students are free from the distractions of fashion trends” as well as “provide the opportunity to present a neat, pleasant appearance as a career skill” that will serve our students well in the future. Beyond our own uniform policy, we follow the general guidelines set forth by the Brevard County schools.

We get our uniform clothing from Land’s End, French Toast. Sir Walter and Tommy Hilfiger.

What makes Sculptor the right choice?

Sculptor Charter School is a Brevard County School of Choice and we recognize that all of our students could be going to another school. There are other fine schools in our area, but none that can match the “total package” that we apply toward the education of your child. It has been said that we offer a private school education at public school prices. Make Sculptor your choice.

Do Sculptor students participate in standardized testing?

Sculptor students participate in The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for VPK and grades 1 - 8, a progress monitoring assessment tool used in Florida designed to assess and monitor achievement in reading.
