Our Story

Brevard Innovative Charter School Inc. (BICS) started from the vision of three individuals who recognized a need for access to an alternative education choice and believed in the Core Knowledge philosophy.  A four-member Board of Directors was formed and the result was Sculptor Elementary School opening its doors to Brevard County students in the 1999-2000 school year.  The Board of Directors and our parent community recognized the value and success of the Sculptor Core Knowledge Program and developed a proposal to expand the K-5 elementary school to a K-8 model.  That proposal was accepted by Brevard County School District and our charter was amended to allow Sculptor to expand through 8th grade now named Sculptor Charter School.

Sculptor has emerged into a high performing, successful and well-supported school.  It started out being a K-5 elementary school with a cap of 180 students.  Today, it is a K-8 school with approximately 550 students enrolled K-8 and 48 students in our Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK).

Since the formation of Sculptor, the school has been recognized for many accomplishments within Brevard County. Some include maintaining an A school rating for multiple years; having several nominees for Brevard Teacher of the Year award as well as a winner as staff, and several Employee of the year award nominees; being one of nine area schools that passed the Anticipated Yearly Progress (A.Y.P.) achievement; being recognized by the State of Florida as a High-Performing Charter School and having the highest volunteer hours per student ratio compared to all other Brevard County Schools.

We can all agree that our children today need and deserve the best education as they are our future leaders. Brevard Innovative Charter Schools, Inc. dba Sculptor Charter School is fulfilling its mission and will continue to do so in order for our future society to be comprised of well-rounded, well-prepared and well-versed citizens and leaders.
