Sculptor Charter School Uniform Policy

 

Mission : The purpose of our uniform policy is to keep our focus on a quality, well-rounded education where students are free from the distractions of fashion trends; to provide the opportunity to present a neat, pleasant appearance as a career skill that will always serve students well. Also, this uniform policy will enhance school safety and security.

 Shirts (must be purchased from the uniform company):
Oxford: short or long - sleeved in white or light blue with embroidered Sculptor logo. Must be worn tucked in to lower garment. Polo: short or long sleeved with Sculptor embroidered logo. T-shirt: short or long sleeved with silk-screened Sculptor logo. Available in red, white, or navy blue for grades PreK-5. Grades 6-8 may choose hunter green as well.

Lower Garments (purchased from our current uniform carrier or the uniform departments of the stores listed below):
Pants, Capris, Shorts*, Skorts*: must be uniform style with no brand name/logo more than two inches in size. Skirts*, Jumpers*: must be accompanied by shorts concealed underneath so as not to deter from the teaching environment and to promote hygiene. Jumpers must be worn with a school logo shirt.
Acceptable colors: navy blue, khaki, or black. 
Cargo styles of any kind are not permitted.

*Standing length may be no shorter than three inches above the kneecap.

Outer Apparel:
Jackets, Coats, Sweatshirts, Sweaters (non pullover type) of one solid color with no brand name apparent. Must be worn with school logo shirt. Hoods of such shall not be worn while in school building.  Acceptable colors: red, white, or navy blue for grades PreK-5. Grades 6-8 may choose hunter green as well.  Outer apparel  not of these colors will not be permitted or  worn while in the school building.

Footwear:
Shoes must
cover the toes and heels of the feet and shall be worn at all times.  No shoes with wheels or any accessory that may be distracting or inhibit the student from performing required educational tasks and assignments.

Accessories:
Jewelry may not be of heavy weight or distracting. Earrings should be studs and not dangle below the earlobe. Hats of any kind are not
permitted to be worn while in the school building.

Hair:
No designs or styles that will cause undue attention or distraction from the educational environment or as determined by the administration. No symbols, shapes or signs shaved in the hair.

 

It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their children come properly dressed to school.

· Enforcement of the student dress code by the staff is to be consistent and objective.

· In the absence of the necessary written documentation, exceptions will not be granted and any violations of the dress code may lead to disciplinary action.

· Adherence to the student dress code is mandatory unless the principal designates a special day or occasion to promote school spirit and/or improve school climate (e.g., “spirit day’, a school dance, a special ceremony, etc.).

· Repeated (more than one time) violations of the student dress code will be considered to be insubordination and subject to disciplinary action.

· Failure to adhere to the uniform policy shall result in the following (record shall be tracked).

1. First Offense: School Uniform Violation form will be filled out and sent home.

2. Second Offense: Student will be required to contact a parent/guardian to request a uniform be brought to school. If the uniform is not brought by 1:00pm, this violation will be followed by a firm consequence up to and including a one-day suspension.

3. Third and any Subsequent Offence: Student will be required to contact a parent/guardian to request a uniform be brought to school. If the uniform is not brought by 1:00pm, this violation will be followed by a mandatory one-day suspension.

We also ask that students adhere to the Brevard County guidelines. This shall be used as a guide when considering clothing on Dress Down Days.
